The Rat Only Comes When You Don’t Have A Stick To Kill It.

A stitch in time saves nine.
Strike whilst the iron is hot.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, rage
Against the dying of the day, put

Your eggs in one basket,
Scrambled, and

When you rattle a snake expect a bite.

Enough.
Let sleeping dogs lie.

A bird in hand is worth two in the bush, two
Peas in a pod –

Tomorrow never comes.
Diamonds are forever.

Nations rise and fall on words, and
We can afford to speak good,

-Ak-

Can’t you take a joke?
I was being sarcastic,

Yeah.

I ‘ain’t paying a penny for your thoughts.
Even a farthing.

I’m not laughing with you,
Laughing at others,

I am not.

Here,
Say something kind.

A stitch in time saves nine.

Said the Joker to the Thief

Don’t make fun of the flower arranger, Ikebana
Is self – discipline, a

Nip here, a
Snip there, and

With fullness of time, and
Passage through life,

Done with the flash of a scissor,

Bone handles,
Glinting,

Scissor flash snip, all gone
Extra weight, things un-needed, flash

Unheeded,
If you stop,

To think about,
It,

You frighten yourself cold,
Frosty, frigid, cold lock-down, too afraid

To make a wrong move, stop –

Don’t laugh at the flower arranger, Ikebana
Is worth learning;

Moving through life with less.

Hostage

image

Promises are made to be broken,
Thwarted,

Made again,
Whilst Jasmine pours,

Perfume;

Where God,
Is an impression, a

Figment,
Asking why, if

Birds and fish and,
Creatures of all kinds,

Flourish,

We terrorize each other,
Impossible,

Even at crimson sunsets, to
Be the first to apologise, and

Stop polluting the Earth?

Root Canal

There’s a starfish in my tooth he says,
A golden starfish nestling in the reef,
Infecting the coral and,

I’m in the deep blue ocean,
Among sea creatures,
Yellow and purple jellyfish,
Undulating in the current,
Stingrays swooping by,

Luminescent seaweed hangs over caves,
Like electric blue curtains,
At a tatoo parlour.

An octopus rakes the sea floor with a puff-adder,
And shoals of Zebra fish stop,
Long streams of impatient shark traffic,
For boisterous packs of anemone in school uniforms.

My dentist wields a wand.
