Dicks in space-suits

UNEP, environment

Dead beetles die in their skins, and

Seychellois, Mauritanians, Maurtians, Martians,
Fighting with sun-tans all, and

Bad lip jobs,

In Nairobi,
Silent giraffes grope for love,

God,
Tends to antelopes,

The world ends
In a traffic jam or,

Dicks in space-suits building railways through the heart of a city.

Choose

Choose, environment

Bombing everything,
You prevaricate,

Humans in an upside-down chandelier,
Prevaricating,

Pompous,
Unable,

Hot air rising will cool.

Cold air,
Kelvin

Is frozen solid so,

Focus.
Save a butterfly.

Choose.

Neon Light

On skin,
Artificial light reflects differently,
Than it does off of glasses raised in toast,
And no matter how loud you are, you cannot escape the sound of your own voice.
Even when traveling faster than the speed of sound.
As the case may be.

Neon moves over skin like skin has a retort and,
Plastic is just plastic.
Bombastic.

The notion that we are the biggest, fastest race in the Universe,
Will be overtaken by events,
Or Love,
As the case may be.

We will live alongside silver sided computers that keep their,
Personalities, even,
As we conjure them by,
Voice Activated Command,

As the case may be.

Tortoises rummaging around,
In Autumnal leaves,
Will be judged the same way.

I don’t mind, do you?

Nipponia nippon

Nipponia Nippon2

Grown men cry saving birds in nests perched high,
Teeter on long bamboo poles,

Fighting snakes,
and extinction,

Cry in despair when a chick dies,

Cry in joy,
When two,

Shake tremulous crowns, childhood plumes,
So tenuous,

Parents squacking overhead in the damp,
Damp valley,

Valley so high on the dull,
Dull mountain,

Afraid of the snake that comes at dawn,
Through the leaves,

In the tall, green forest,

Tall trees, Nipponia nippon, and
Men up the tree,

Up,
Up,

No thought for slackline or failure,
-the snake almost had them the last time –

Grown men cry,
Cry saving birds,

Cry heavy, heaving sighs, cry,
Conservationist.

Vanquished

Large-scale_structure_of_light_distribution_in_the_universe

Aliens have been vanquished before.

Dolphins,
Whales,
Elephants,

Orchids all,

Intelligent,
Cannot look after Earth,

May have seen the end coming, not
Had the means to pollinate,

Thought life,
Conscious, must

Be responsible,
For life, have

Missed the archer,
Choosing the trajectory,

Been the arrow,
Aliens,

Forgetting that food
Chains,

Are best when,
Dolphins,

Whales,
Elephants,

Orchids all,
Are cared for, reefs

Unable to do so,
Visible from space like,

Large Scale structures of the Universe and,

Remembering just in time to,
Be the ones that save.

The asteroid went unnoticed.

Gods

image

If we are to be Gods we must,
Musk,

Be life forms using noses and spectrograms,

Be blue animals,

Hurtling through space, dentists
Doxologists,

Cobblers mending hard drives,
Therapists,

Slippers,

Saving the world,
Changing the climate,

Becoming responsible politicians,
Setting safe harbour as we go.

Walking in the light

image

We could dance on Gravity,
We could burst the Sun,

We could be that horror Alien who steals your child,
We are born metal touching galaxies though glass,

Galileo’s kids seeing through Sombrero,

We could look after water,
Or it’s facsimile,

We could look after Earth.

Keep me out of this one

keep-me-out-of-this-one

the lone yellow pebble bore witness
to the abduction that took place at midnight.

The man was bound and gagged and led away as
women wept.

Keep me out of this one.

Did you know that a bear needs twenty-seven,
Square miles of forest, to live?

Keep me out of this one.

The woman cut the balls off the man who raped her.
Keep me out of this one.

Root Canal

There’s a starfish in my tooth he says,
A golden starfish nestling in the reef,
Infecting the coral and,

I’m in the deep blue ocean,
Among sea creatures,
Yellow and purple jellyfish,
Undulating in the current,
Stingrays swooping by,

Luminescent seaweed hangs over caves,
Like electric blue curtains,
At a tatoo parlour.

An octopus rakes the sea floor with a puff-adder,
And shoals of Zebra fish stop,
Long streams of impatient shark traffic,
For boisterous packs of anemone in school uniforms.

My dentist wields a wand.

Frogs this side of the Universe

short poetry, aliens, evolution, environment, extinction,

Evidently frogs lie in wait,

And the moon sets on stranger ground,
Than we will ever imagine,

Landscapes of endless twilight and,
Shifting sand,

Shadows that congeal into shapeless forms,
Gliding over dank walls,

Flowing into dimly lit caverns,
Filled with hunched figures,

Hundreds of them,
Four limbed slugs captured eons ago,

Growing wings and emerging from sacs,

Peering into neon and,
Farting occasionally,

Stubby limbs chained to,
Grimey floors,

Tubes running into foreheads,
Ruffling DNA,

Every so often we run into humans,
Who do not understand,

That they are only Earthlings,
This side of the Universe,

Night flies on computer screens,
Attracted to the light completely.
